Leaders,

We have an unusual posting for you this week. Last week was “V Week” for those of us who enjoy college basketball. “V Week” is named for Jimmy V, also known as Jim Valvano. Valvano was a great college basketball coach who got terminal cancer and gave an amazing speech at the ESPY Awards in 1993, two months before his death.

HIs speech is still shown every year during V Week when ESPN uses it to raise money for cancer research. Since his speech, over 200 million dollars have been raised through the effort.

This speech is good for leaders to watch, not only because of his ability to exhibit many of the things we talked about in our module on Public Speaking, but also because it incapsulates other things we covered in LEAD 365, like casting vision.

If you have a dozen minutes, it might be worth your time to watch:

Thanks for humoring me on this.

Be great this week!
