Leading By Design Coaches

Gerald Alvaro

Learning and Development Principal

I support the growth, development, and rise of personal and leadership effectiveness through facilitating the learning of key leadership practices and principles and through one-on-one coaching. In short, I help people become their personal best.

My Background & Experience

My career started in the operations side of the finance industry and then I moved into education. Both industries have helped me in my journey of personal leadership growth and then development of others.

My background in developmental coaching is as follows:

  • 2016: Mastery Coaching – Discovery Advance Coaching Services
  • 2014: Learning Transfer – Association for Talent Development (ATD)
  • 2014: Coaching Certification – Zenger Folkman Group
  • 2011: Training Certification Program – American Society for Training & Development (ASTD)
  • 2007: Foundational Coach Training – Reformed Church of America

My Coaching Philosophy

King Solomon in his wisdom statements said, “The purpose of a person’s heart are deep waters, but someone of understanding can draw them out.” This is in essence what I do. I act as the bridge in helping others move from where they are presently to where they want to go. Through listening and asking questions, I draw out their ideas, their potential solutions, and the steps needed to move forward.

Coaching allows a person a safe place to do this processing and uncover what it will take for them to move closer in becoming the worthy leader they desire to be with determination and courage to make that change.

Principles I Live By

  • Character is everything.
  • I have a choice: mastery or mediocrity? Excellence or insignificance? It’s up to me, and I have that choice.

Books That Have Shaped My Thinking

  • The Holy Bible

  • The Traveler’s Gift: Seven Decisions that Determine Personal Success by Andy Andrews
